Science Process Skills Workshop for P3 Parents 2014 at CHIJ OLQP

The cluster organised a Science Process Skills workshop for P3 Parents and pupils on Saturday, 15 February 2014 at CHIJ OLQP. The workshop was conducted by Mr Pang Kia Keng, Senior Teacher, Nanyang Primary School.

 

Besides introducing the Primary Science Curriculum, the P3 Science Syllabus and assessment for learning, Mr Pang highlighted the various process skills that the pupils would learn in P3. Development of the skills at higher level was briefly mentioned so that parents and pupils could see the progression and relevance of the skills taught at P3.

Science Workshop for P4 Parents and Pupils 2014

 

The department organised a science workshop for P4 Parents and Pupils on Saturday, 15 February 2014.

 

Mdm Selena Tan, LH (Science), started the workshop with an overview of the various process skills and the topics taught in P4 Science. Mdm Lee Ern Ern introduced parents and pupils to Popplet, a mindmap tool which the pupils will be using soon. Mrs Florence Chan and Mr Kwan Siew Tung introduced to the participants an experiment design using the various process skills. Then the paprents and pupils carried out an experiment on their own to find out more about magnets.

 

To end off, Mr Kwan shared with the parents and pupils some useful resources.

Science Briefing for P3 Parents 2014

The department organised a science briefing for P3 Parents on Friday, 24 January 2014. The briefing aims to give parents  an overview of the new Science Syllabus, the various process skills and the topics taught in lower block Science as well as introduce them to the Science Practical and activities to better guide their children in Science.
